Ran in the pool.....hard workout!

I had a really bad cramp in my calf on Thursday night while sleeping.  I had not had one in a really long time.  This woke me up to I have to start taking my calcium again, bad girl I know.  I also have stopped drinking as much skim milk as I had been when doing my daily protein shakes.

Yesterday Nichole and I got up and headed down to the Riverplex, which I have to say I love.  The only down side to my gym is that I have to drive about 8.56 miles to get there as it is down by the river.  It is a really nice facility and it has an amazing aqua center which has four separate pools, and a lazy river ( where I do the "run the rapids" class)  and a two story water slide, indoor and outdoor children's zero depth entry pools, a 25 yard four lane lap pool, another pool where the aqua aerobics classes are held, and a heated therapy pool, along with a hot tub, sauna and steam room.  It truly is amazing.  I have a family membership through work, since OSF Medical Center where I work is one of the partners who helped build this facility for our city.  It is amazing!  It has an elevated indoor track with six lanes.  It has an amazing cardio center and free weight room, plus all of the newest strength machines.  It has over 150 classes a week that are free to members, it has five gyms and a XR gaming room, and the Les Mils series of classes.   I have a great gym and I get all of this for $85 dollars a month for my family.  Not bad for the health that I gain from going.

So back to my sore calf, I did not swim laps yesterday, instead I ran in the lazy river and walked.  It was a real work out, and after the initial pain in my calf it felt really great.  I love working out in the water, the extra resistance from the water but the displacement of my weight makes it so much easier to do simple exercise.  I cannot stress enough, if you have the ability to do water work, DO IT!  I know some people feel self conscious in a bathing suit when heavy, but really, come on that is simply an excuse that you cannot afford.  Working out whether in a bathing suit or spandex, you just have to make yourself do it.  I tell myself that I am not there to be seen, I am there for my health.  I am proud to say that I fit into my size 16 Speedo, that I had purchased right before the regain, and I am so happy about that.  I look forward to my workouts and am thrilled that I get to be in the water, as I am a water crazed woman.

I'm with you Kristin......a water crazed woman! Being at the gym in a bathing suit is WAY easier than being at the beach in a bathing suit!

Under 10 miles for the gym isn't bad. I was driving 18 to get to mine but I loved it so it was worth it.
