This is my word choice for 2012!
Endure
To continue in the same state without perishing. To last, to remain. To remain firm, as under trial or suffering; to suffer patiently or without yielding; to bear up under adversity. To hold out. To remain firm; to sustain, to support without breaking or yielding; as metals endure a certain degree of heat without melting; to endure wind and weather. To bear with patience; to suffer without opposition or without sinking under pressure or affliction; to bear up; to put up with; to tolerate. To harden to toughen; to make hardy.Endure
I have been banded for four years, and I have learned so very much in this amount of time. I will have achieved my goal of 170 pounds by my 5th anniversary of 11-9-2012. I will not accept failure, I will push through every obstacle that presents itself to me this year. I will not fold under pressure I shall ENDURE!
I have proven over and over that this band actually works great, it is I that cause the mishaps. (There are the extreme cases where some of us did everything right and still had to have their band removed, and I am not referring to you at all here.) I am referring to people like me, who chose to eat around the band because I was too fricking tight! Eating all of the things that easily move right through the band. That is CHOICE ladies and gentleman, and you cannot blame the band! It is no one's fault but my own that I regained the weight that I lost. It is no ones fault, that I made bad choices because "it tasted so good", and I listened to "this one time won't hurt you" eat it! Food saboteurs are everywhere my friends, they are the people we love, they are people we work with, they are even people we just meet. Now some are unintentional, but others well, let me tell you. As you begin to see the weight come off, others are watching too. Women especially become crazy when someone around them drops an enormous amount of weight. They say snide comments, like "wow she is on the starvation plan, she eats like a bird. " Or "who does she think she is, must think she is pretty stinking hot." I have heard these remarks at work for someone else who has lost an enormous amount of weight this year without a band! It is because they feel threatened. They are uncomfortable with their own weight and this makes them focus on that.
Be prepared for all kinds of "slips", "potholes" or just plane hic-cups on your journey, they will happen. If you come prepared for them, you can better handle them, and move right through them without much damage.
I wish I had done this, rather than continue on my spiral. I have lost 144 pounds since being banded. I would be 151 pounds had I stayed the course. WOW that really blows my mind and is hard to swallow at times.
Endurance takes focus, and determination and yes will power! It is easy to make excuses, I think that is definitely a human trait. We always look for other reasons than ourselves for whatever is wrong or not working!
It began with me when I made the choice of being banded, with this choice came responsibilities. I have to remain true to the band rules, and I will Endure!
Happy 2012 everyone, I hope it proves to be an amazing year for all of us! I am sure going to enjoy the ride.

You are moving forward, and that is what matters. You don't need to beat yourself up anymore for what could have been had you stayed on track. You are doing it now, and you will meet your goals. Happy New Year!
Like that you're being prepared for slips ... you've got a great plan here Kristin ~ Happy New Year :)
Amazing 2012 word. LOVE IT! You'll get there honey - I know it.
Great Word... and I know you can do this. We all have hit a bump in the road or two or 100. We just keep getting back up and start again. Today is the first day of liquids for me... and it's going well. I need to rid myself of the horrible cravings that carbs give me... kinda like a detox of sort. You are strong and will overcome... We both will.
I have no doubt you will reach your goal Kristin. We know you can endure a lot.
Fantastic word! I have no doubt that you'll achieve your goals this year!
You will ENDURE! Go, girl!
